Welcome
The defining difference in a naturopathic appointment over a conventional medicine appointment is that you will be spending the entire visit with the doctor. It is my fervent desire that you, as a patient, feel truly heard in your need for care and that together we work on a health solution that is personalized just for you.
Below you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions I hear from people as they are considering naturopathic care. After reviewing these, if you are still unsure if naturopathic care is right for you, please call to set up a FREE 5-10 minute initial phone consultation. I’m always happy to answer any questions you may have.
FAQs
Is Dr. Whitney a real doctor?
Yes, Dr. Whitney is a real doctor. She attended National University of Health Sciences just outside of Chicago, IL and graduated in December of 2014. This school is a 4-year post-graduate naturopathic medical college that is fully accredited and recognized by the Federal government. After completing this program, Dr. Whitney also successfully completed two different sets of board exams administered by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners to demonstrate competency. Dr. Whitney maintains Naturopathic Medicine licenses in both Wisconsin and Minnesota, wherein these states she is legally recognized as a qualified Primary Care Provider.
How do I know if this is the right care for me?
You can email Dr. Whitney under the “Contact” Menu at the top of the page to request she create an online health records file for you so you can book a FREE 15 minute Exploration Phone Consultation.
How much is a first visit?
Dr. Whitney books all New Patient visits for a 2 hour time slot. If time allows, the visit may go longer at the discretion of the provider and agreement of the patient. All visits are billed at the flat hourly rate of $260.
What can I expect during my first visit?
As a primary care trained doctor, Dr. Whitney will be asking you similar questions as your conventional medical doctor. However, the similarities will most likely end there. During the first appointment she will record a very extensive health record including: your current health concerns and goals, full health history, family history, lifestyle review, mental emotional heath, and social/religious/support networks. Your health encompasses all aspects of physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.
Are tele-health visits available?
Yes. Dr. Whitney’s mission is to lessen the obstacles to your health, namely to not let distance determine your health, or access to care for it. She is happy to offer traditional in-office visits or tele-health – either phone or video – which is seamlessly built into her online patient software; no need for messy 3rd party websites and links!
Are lab tests available?
Yes, if it is determined that a specific lab evaluation is necessary. Dr.Whitney has access to hundreds of conventional and functional labs via the Rupa Health platform, Fullscript, and other one of labs that do not yet participate in those platforms. Most labs offer at home testing and direct drop shipment all in one price. Dr. Whitney can draw blood in house, however she may opt to refer out to other collection sites on a case by case basis. If you have questions about a particular lab test or cost please email her for the most up-to-date pricing.
Will insurance cover my visit?
No traditional insurance to date covers naturopathic care. However, Flex Spending Accounts (FLEX) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) may be used, though you will need to check with your provider regarding coverage.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Payment is due in full at the time of service, or start of a program. For all visits and services, cash, check, credit or debit cards are acceptable forms of payment, however there is a fee for card processing, even for Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flex Cards. Per office policy regarding cancelations and no shows a credit card must be on file for all appointment requests to be accepted.
What types of treatments does Dr. Whitney utilize?
What comes after the first visit?
Return visits are scheduled for 60 minutes, and the frequency of these will be determined by the treatment plan or program you are following. Minimum visit charge is for 30 minutes.
